WORDS ON THE WEB:

Citysearch says, "In Short – Bar-deficient Bed-Stuy gets a boost with this stylized haunt decked out with shiny vinyl booths, wood-grain wallpaper and a Formica-topped bar, which seats arty Pratt undergrads and grizzled neighborhood stalwarts alike. Young, genial bartenders serve basic beers such as creamy Guinness pints and Red Stripes (no local microbrews), as well as surprisingly addictive Wildwoods (spiced rum and orange soda). Early evenings, Sweet Revenge is suited for contemplative drinks or catch-up time with friends; late-night weekends, wear your dancing shoes and shimmy 'til dawn."

Metromix says, "A retro-tinged neighborhood lounge—replete with vinyl booths and a Formica-topped bar—has opened its doors amid Bed-Stuy's sea of bodegas and check-cashing joints. Barflies can kick back with a handful of brews on tap (Stella, Guinness, Amber Bock) and in the bottle (Red Stripe, Woodpecker Cider) or happy hour specials like $5 Wildwoods (spiced rum and orange soda) while shooting the breeze with the down-to-earth bartenders Neighborhood regulars and borough-hoppers looking for a hood untouched by Starbucks and condo developments can squeeze into cozy booths or stretch their legs in the spacious, bench-laden backyard. And everyone's inner dorm-dweller will appreciate the bar's single edible option: Hot Pockets nuked to perfection ($3)."

New York Magazine says, "Only several feet too wide to qualify as "railroaded," this cozy, narrow little affair—which pushes the gentrifying Fort Greene boundary a little farther into Bed-Stuy—centers entirely around a long, white faux-marble bar. Cushioned stools line up around the rectangular space, directing patrons' gazes to the ruddy brick wall that frames a rounded, futuristic teak liquor shelf (and away from the opposite wall, plastered with a bleached sterile white and haphazardly garnished green-fern wallpaper). Stella,Guinness, and Sierra Nevada lead the small pack of unpretentious drafts on tap, but the signature Wild Wood cocktail is a saccharine orange-soda concoction best avoided. A slightly elevated mini-lounge area is squeezed against a far corner, furnished with an easy chair, overstuffed green chaise, and an antique television. The outdoors patio is Sweet Revenge's cheeriest feature, strung with colored Havana Christmas lights and staffed with multiple benches for winter smokers and summer bons vivants."
