LOWDOWN: Whether you're looking for a caffeine fix at any hour of the day, or in need of a Wi-Fi/power outlet ready "office space," Outpost Lounge covers the bases. It's pretty clear by the slew of postcards and free magazines that decorate the entranceway, that Outpost is everyone-friendly. The place is bohemian chic, with antique farmhouse touches, planked hardwood floors and beautifuly hand crafted light fixtures. There are lots of seating options here, including a windowside table and couch facing the street. A large open room in back supplys a few more comfy chairs and plenty of sharable wooden tables for dining, laptop use, and board gaming. A cherry red espresso machine sits atop the grand bar, where you can sit and watch the super-friendly baristas brew, steam and pour cups of joe, lattes, hot coco, and their monthly drink special. They also serve up heart-healthy snacks, salads, and sandwiches and a killer turkey or veggie chili. Their fresh juices and pastries also hit the spot. The cafe's exposed brick does double duty as an "art gallery" with local artists' work hung clothes line-style along the wall. The backyard garden patio draws crowds to soak up rays, or for the Lounge's monthly film series. And what Brooklyn cafe would be complete without some booze, 13 or so bottled beers and red/white wine draws plenty of smiles.
